Grants.gov
Grants.gov, launched in 2002 by the Department of Health and Human Services, is a free platform for finding and applying to federal grants across 1,000+ programs, awarding $500 billion annually.
GrantWatch
GrantWatch is a popular platform for finding federal, state, local, foundation, and corporate grants in the USA, Canada, and internationally, with over 23,000 current opportunities. Updated daily, it offers free previews of grants, but full details—like eligibility and application info—require a paid membership. Users can track search history and add grants to their calendar.
Grant Gopher
Grant Gopher, launched in 2006, offers affordable email notifications for new grants tailored to researchers' needs. Designed to help nonprofits stay updated, it reviews funders' websites, financial data, and IRS Form 990 to provide timely alerts for open grants.
Foundation Directory Online
Foundation Directory Online (FDO) offers detailed information on U.S. grantmakers and their funding activities. Subscription plans provide access to over 103,000 foundations, including searchable IRS Forms 990-PF. FDO also offers updates on new grantmakers, job opportunities, and RFPs. Temporary remote access is available due to COVID-19.
Pivot
Pivot offers a comprehensive database of $44 billion in funding opportunities and 3 million pre-populated scholar profiles. Using a proprietary algorithm, it matches researchers to current funding opportunities, regularly updating profiles and removing expired listings. Pivot also identifies expertise within and outside organizations and provides weekly updates on saved searches, along with internal deadlines for key opportunities.
NIH Grants and Funding
Founded in 1887, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a leading medical research center and the U.S. focal point for medical research. Comprised of 27 Institutes and Centers, NIH's mission is to advance knowledge to prevent, detect, and treat diseases. It funds research in its labs and supports non-federal scientists at universities and institutions globally. NIH offers various grants, contracts, and loan repayment programs for researchers.
GrantForward
GrantForward is a search engine for finding grant opportunities, covering over 12,000 sponsors and more than 40,000 funding opportunities. Its powerful search system offers adaptable filters and personalized recommendations based on researcher profiles. GrantForward features funding from federal agencies, academic societies, and foundations, specifically for U.S. university researchers. It can also create automated funding searches based on your publications or CV.
