Dr. Green joined the Civil Engineering Department Faculty at Fresno State in 2019, bringing over 20 years of experience in railroading and consulting engineering to the university.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in 13 States.  He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in railroad and highway engineering, and first year engineering courses.

He conducts research in the area of railroad engineering, focused primarily in three areas: high-speed rail systems, railroad freight transportation, and railroad engineering education.

He is currently a Co-Principal Investigator on a multi-year Federal Railroad Administration-sponsored project on railway workforce development to improve recruiting and retention of young engineers in railroad careers.  He is also Fresno State’s team leader for a multi-university, multi-year Federal Railroad Administration-sponsored project conducting summer educational programs for high school students to encourage railroading careers.

Dr. Green is a Past President of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Dr. Green is currently the Chairperson of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-way Association (AREMA) Committee on Education and Professional Development.
