Construction Management
Overview
Students from interrelated disciplines will acquire professional and specialized construction knowledge and skills. Preparation for participation in the building-related professions leads to careers in solving the infrastructure needs of society and the environment.
Minor Requirements (22 units)
Fundamental Courses
The following courses (16 units) are mandatory in order to complete the minor:
- CM 17: Construction Materials & Basic Building Systems (3 units)
- CM 18: Construction Graphics (3 units)
- CM 20: Construction Documents (3 units)
- CM 21L: Quantity Takeoff (1 unit)
- CM 110: Estimating & Bidding (3 units)
- CM 116: Construction Scheduling (3 units)
Elective Courses
Students are required to take at least 6 units of construction management electives. These courses should be selected in conjunction with a faculty adviser, which may include:- ARCH 50 - Basic Building Codes Units: 3
- ARCH 145 - Historic Preservation and Urban Renewal Units: 3
- CM 98 - Construction Management Competition Units: 1-3
- CM 134 - Architectural Design Problems Units: 3
- CM 144 - Construction Site Planning and Development Units: 3
- CM 150 - Building Construction Units: 3
- CM 151 - Heavy Civil Construction Units: 3
- CM 152 - BIM for Construction Management Units: 3
- CM 177 - Sustainable Construction Units: 3
- CM 191T - Technical Topics in Construction Units: 1-3
Other Requirements: Students must obtain at least a 2.0 GPA and 6 upper-division units in residence.
