Academic Probation
A student is placed on Academic Probation if their campus and/or total GPA falls below a 2.0. Based on a student’s amount of
units completed.
A student is on Probation: Disqualification Range if their GPA is below a 2.0 and in the disqualification range as presented in the
student level chart. Students must bring GPA above the disqualification range the
following semester in order to continue at Fresno State.
A student will remain on probation until their campus and cumulative GPA are both
a 2.0 or higher.
Readmitted on Probation
An undergraduate student who has been academically disqualified from the university,
reapplied, and been accepted as a readmitted student at Fresno State will be placed
on Readmitted on Probation. Students are requested to earn a minimum 2.50 term GPA
to continue into the following semester.
The student will remain on Readmitted on Probation until their campus and total GPA
is no longer in disqualification and is on Probation or Good Standing.
Academic Disqualification
An undergraduate student will be placed on academic disqualification if either campus
or total (cumulative) GPA fall below the level based on units earned at the end of
the Spring term.
Freshman (29 units or less) will be academically disqualified if their total or campus
GPA is below a 1.50
Sophomore (30-59 units) will be academically disqualified if their total or campus
GPA is below a 1.70
Junior (60-89 units) will be academically disqualified if their total or campus GPA
is below a 1.85
Senior (90 units or higher) will be academically disqualified if their total or campus
GPA is below a 1.95
Post Baccalaureate (0+ units) will be academically disqualified if their total or
campus GPA is below a 1.95.
A student who is academically disqualified from Fresno State must reapply to the university.

Update as of: 7/31/24
An email will be sent to the student's Fresno State email with details on what will
be required in order to have the hold removed. Holds affect enrollment for a future
semester and not the current term for which students have been placed on Academic
Probation. Holds will be removed once student's meet with an Academic Advisor from
their respective advising center.
Students are required to complete three meetings with an Advisor:
- First Meeting: Attend one of our Information Sessions or a One-on-One with an Advisor
- Second Meeting: One-on-One with an Advisor
- Third Meeting: One-on-One with an Advisor
You will receive an email with a personalized link to schedule the 2nd and 3rd meetings
that will take place after you attend the Information Session.

Freshman (0-29 units earned) admitted Fall 2022 and Fall 2023 will work with Academic
Success Coaching to clear the Academic Success Coaching Probation Hold. Please check
your Fresno State email for specific requirements and instructions to schedule those
meetings.

As a student in the Lyles College of Engineering, we encourage you to attend one of
our Fall 2024 Academic Probation Information Sessions. Information about these will
be sent to your Fresno State email and instructions on how to register.
We encourage you to schedule an appointment to meet with your assigned Major Advisor
or an Advisor in the Lyles College of Engineering Advising Center to discuss your
academic progress.
Being placed on Academic Probation can be challenging, but we are committed to helping
you return to good academic standing and can provide additional guidance and support.

the ASC Probation Hold*
