Geomatics Engineering
Undergraduate Programs
As students pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatics Engineering, they have numerous opportunities to excel in our program as well as increase professional awareness and supplement their leadership skills.
Geomatics Engineering Students use highly specialized equipment during their studies and project development in areas of: digital and photogrammetric mapping; land and geographic information systems (GIS); global positioning systems (GPS); geodetic surveying; aerial and digital mapping; environmental and resource mapping; boundary surveying; and LIDAR scanning.
Changing Your Major to Geomatics Engineering?
Currently enrolled Fresno State students wishing to change their major to a BS in Geomatics Engineering, please note the following:
- Completion of MATH 75 Calculus (or equivalent) with a grade of C (2.0) or better is required for approval to change major.
- Please submit completed Change of Major/Minor form to the University Registrar Service Windows, Student Services Center, Joyal Administration Building, North Lobby at Fresno State.
Opportunities for Student Success
Active participation in organizations such as Student Association for Geomatics Engineering
(SAGE); California Geotechnical Engineering Association (CalGEO); California Land
Surveyors Association (CLSA); American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing
(ASPRS); Annual Geomatics Engineering Conference and Fore Sight! Magazine is encouraged.
Additional student opportunities include faculty and grant sponsored research, scholarships
and awards from professional organizations, practitioner-mentored senior projects,
access to part-time work, paid internships and industry partners.

Our experienced faculty and staff are dedicated to providing a quality education to each individual student and the excellent student to faculty ratios allow for mentor support and hands-on experiences. All Geomatics faculty are professionally licensed in their area of expertise and active in research.
Industry Partnership
The Geomatics Engineering program provides students numerous opportunities to build
strong relationships with regional and national Geomatics Engineering industry partners.
This affords students access to scholarships, internships and employment upon graduation.
