SEISMIC TABLE OPERATION

The operation of the Seismic Table is reserved for Faculty who have been trained on its operation. Students can be present, but may not operate the table. Prior to any operation of the seismic table, several forms must be completed and signed by appropriate Faculty and staff members. Listed below are the Project Checklist and overviews of the Seismic Table.

 VICKERS PUMP OPERATION

The hydraulic pump used to drive the actuator is a Vickers brand that is equipped with two 100 HP electric motors, capable of delivering 100 GPM of hydraulic fluid flow at 3000 psi. There is a very specific procedure to start up the hydraulic pump. Pump usage must be recorded to insure that proper maintenance intervals are met.

 5 TON OVERHEAD CRANE SYSTEM

There is a 5-ton overhead crane system and upon training and certification, it can be used for moving specimens on and off the seismic table. Individuals MUST fill out Crane Safety Checklist EVERY day the crane is used.
